About The Mediterranean Leaf
The Mediterranean Leaf is an independent daily magazine covering cannabis news, culture, science, industry, and policy — with Malta and the wider Mediterranean at the centre of the frame.
Published from Marsaskala, we exist because something was missing: a genuine information hub that treats cannabis as a subject worthy of serious daily journalism from a Maltese perspective, without losing sight of what's happening across Europe and the rest of the world.
What we cover
News — Malta's evolving ARUC framework, CHRA developments, European policy shifts, and the international stories shaping how cannabis is regulated, studied, and consumed.
Culture & Community — the recipes, rituals, gatherings, and quiet cultural work happening across the cannabis community. From Barcelona kitchens to Maltese living rooms, the plant has always been a social object as much as a substance.
Industry & Intelligence — the businesses, markets, and technology reshaping cannabis globally. Cultivation innovation, market analysis, regulatory economics, and the emerging European industry landscape.
Science & Health — the research that actually matters, contextualised properly. Clinical trials, cannabinoid discoveries, and harm-reduction science — reported without hype and without moralising.
Editorials — perspective and analysis on the questions the daily news cycle glosses over.
How we think about cannabis
We report from an informed, harm-reduction perspective. Cannabis is a legal, regulated substance in Malta and increasingly across Europe. Our readers are adults who deserve accurate, contextualised information — not scare stories, not marketing, and not moralising from either direction.
We're fascinated by cannabis as a plant, by its long human history, and by the extraordinary transformation it's undergoing right now as legal frameworks, science, and culture catch up with what farmers and consumers have known for centuries.
Who reads us
CHRA members and curious Maltese consumers finding their way through a new regulatory framework. European policy watchers tracking one of the Continent's most interesting cannabis experiments. Researchers, healthcare professionals, and industry observers who want daily context on a rapidly changing landscape. Anyone who has ever wondered what a serious cannabis magazine, written from the Mediterranean, might look like.
Independence
The Mediterranean Leaf is fully independent. No sponsors, no advertisers, no commercial partnerships. Our editorial decisions are made without external pressure, and we intend to keep it that way.
